In 2018, 24% of global CO2 emissions from fuel combustion stemmed from the transportation sector. In France, transport is even responsible for 30% of these emissions! It is now urgent to act. However, the generalisation of clean mobility remains complex to this day, mainly because of its high cost and the lack of suitable products and services to meet the needs of professionals.
It is estimated that there are 1 billion ICE-vehicles on the road today. Given the rapid progression of global warming and the increasingly restrictive legislation that has emerged in order to accelerate energy transition, will the automotive industry be able to adapt and market 1 billion clean vehicles by 2050? What would be the environmental cost of scrapping 1 billion vehicles and producing another billion?
As our natural resources are limited, and the production of new electric vehicles is very polluting, we must rethink the way we consume and increasingly upcycle the existing rather than overproducing. Faced with this observation, Phoenix Mobility’s co-founders have decided to embark on a mission to make mobility cleaner and more accessible. Since 2018, our teams have been designing and installing retrofitting kits that allow existing combustion vehicles to be converted into 100% electric ones.
